Le Cœur d'Estourgie - how we came up with the name
You're embarking on the adventure of a gîte - well, that's the plan.
A house? Check. A nice place? Check. A breathtaking view? Double check.
In short: let's go!
And then comes the crucial moment: we have to come up with a name. Not a detail.
After a good brainstorming session, one idea stood out: Le Cœur d'Estourgie.
Why this name?
It all started with a grandmother. Her maiden name was Henriette Lucienne Françoise Marie Estourgie.
An elegant name (with an impressive number of first names), which already sounded very French to our Dutch ears.
And bingo: after extensive genealogical research by Justin Estourgie (see http://www.estourgie.com), we discover that this name doesn't just come from France, but straight from this region.
So it's almost self-evident. A story of roots. We couldn't pass it up.
And then there's Le Cœur - the heart. Not just the centre of this gîte, which is literally in the heart of France, but also the heart of our project.
Our dream. From the welcome, the human warmth, the desire to create a place where you feel good.
For us, Le Cœur d'Estourgie is much more than just a name.
It's a nod to the past, and a door wide open to those looking for a moment's respite, a breath of fresh air, a little peace.
Welcome to our hearts - literally and figuratively.
